It is intended to assist disadvantaged women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. There are no restrictions on the use of the funds which may be used for any financial requirements our winner has.

Two awards are given each year. The 1st place award is $3500. and the second place award is $1500.

Each year, more than $1.5 million is disbursed through cash awards at various levels of the organization. SI Peterborough currently gifts our recipient with $2000 to support their on-going education.

Winners at the local level have the opportunity to participate in Regional and potentially Federation level judging for additional support.

Many recipients have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol abuse.

The award may be used to offset any costs associated with efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare and transportation.
